how do they strap down wheelchairs in a “short” bus?
I’ve always been curious about this because I see how the lifts work, but I can never understand how they stop the wheelchairs (either electric ones or manual) from rolling when the bus moves? Like, do they have a seat belt that goes around the chair or something along the lines of that? Any info would be awesome!
There are four adjustable straps that are attached to the floor of the bus, with large plastic-coated hooks on the ends which are fastened to the mobility device and tightened down to restrain the wheelchair. Two in front and two from behind. A second set of belts goes around the passenger just like the lap/shoulder belts in a car. See the link for all the info you could possibly want.
