Rear seal oil leak in 1988 ford van?
Have a 1988 ford E250 6 cyclinder van. The rear main seal is leaking. Any suggestions???
.What oil do you recommend to slow the leak?
Are you sure it’s the rear main seal, and not the oil pan or gasket that’s leaking? Engines of those era had a tendency to harden up and crack the oil pan gasket, same as the pan itself would rust through. If it is the rear main seal, just make sure it’s not blowby crankcase pressure causing your leak. If that’s the case it may be time for a rebuild. Hope this helps.
