What kind of tires do I need?
I have a 1978 Ford F-150 Series 4×2 Wheel Drive Truck. I am looking into buying tires for them but am not sure what kind i need. People have told me that I need to buy 30 inch tires but that sounds (and looks) kinda big. I do believe that I have a 4 inch lift kit installed. Will that have any effect on the tire size?? I need options!!! Thanks!!!
Let’s see… In 1978 that Ford F-150 4×2 came oe with an L78-15 which is ruffly 28 inches tall… so in theory 30 to 31 inch tires would work if you indeed have a 4 inch lift. So then you need to consider if you want an All-Terrain tire or a Highway/All-Season tire. Then you need to factor if you want to buy the lowest price tire…or a mid-range tire…or a name brand pricier tire. I’d say you should stop by a local tire dealer and do a little shopping.
