Does anyone know of an organization or program that donates power chairs?
My dad has suffered with a heart condition and a stroke for the past ten years. He has been using a cane and a wheelchair but it just completely drains him after only a few minutes. He is 50 yrs old and on disability so he can’t afford to buy one from the scooter store and his doctor wouldn’t approve it because she doesn’t want him to be depend on it so much that he doesn’t do anything at all,but thats the reason he needs it so he can actually go out and enjoy life instead of being too scared to even go out the door. She doesn’t understand that though because she doesn’t see how much he is suffering.Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
I’m not certain of the guys name, but on The Hour of Power we watch regularly here in NZ, there was this black guy who ran an organization donating wheel chairs.Don’t know if they were powered or not.Log onto Hour of Power.org Otherwise do you not have a charity organisation where you live? We have a Lottery Commission which donates mobility scooters to the less fortunate.I would check in your own neighbourhood.I know how your Dad must feel. I cant get out too much either.Hope you have some luck?
