Amps from a power supply?
Hey I’m not much into electronics, but I need to draw 24V 4A from a power supply, but the one I have you can adjust up to 30V and the amp display goes up to 3A, is there any way I can get extra current? This is the supply I have: http://www.maplin.co.uk/triple-power-supply-5925 Also, if I can’t draw it from this what is the cheapest way I could get 24V 4A from batteries or something else? Thanks!
You should be able to use your 30v supply for 4A – it is a little over what it was designed for and may get a little hot – but for short periods (1-2hours) it should be OK.
Two small lead acid batteries in series will easily supply the current you need but will be rather bulky and need recharging every few hours of use.
