How to charge my scooter batteries for my wagon sound system?
I made a wagon with a car audio system in it and to power it i took my old electric scooter batteries which were 2 12v batteries in series to 24v and wired them to 12v parallel. I then used my old superbrain 977 that i originally used for charging rc car batteries because it said it could charge lead acid batteries, but now the system wont stay powered on because the voltage is too low on the battery. I think the charger isnt charging it fully. I have the 24v charger from the scooter i could use too, but idk how i could… Thanks!
You can always leave the batteries hooked together in a series, and use the 24v charge as it was meant. Now, connect your sound system to the terminals of 1 battery, as this will still provide just 12 volts. You will get 24v by connecting to the Positive of one battery and the Negative of the second, but connecting to the positive and negative of just one of them, even though they are in series, will still just give 12v. Oh, and if you need the amperage of both, you can connect the sound system to the postive on both, and the negative in both. This will give the stereo a parallel conection to the batteries, but the charger will have a series connection to allow 24v charging. This is the same as how a diesel vehicle is wired to support 12v accessories and lighting.
