When do I need to change the spark plugs?
I have a Ford E-Series V-6 van. I notice that sometimes when it is going from 2nd gear to 3rd it kinda likes to jerk This doesnt happen when I hit overdrive though and never happens past 65 miles an hour. Also it isnt the transmission,I thought it was that at first but I am 100 percent positive it isnt.
I also thought the fuel injectors might not be spraying right and might be hurting my fuel economy as well.
My question is when do you know when you need to change the spark plugs on a van?
It is a 1997 Ford E-150.It has 167,000 Miles on it. It use to be owned by a florist shop but I think they did routine maintaince on it but I cant find the records for it.
This vehicle has a lock up converter. The lock up solonoid on AOD’s are notorious for being defective and they apply the lock up at that speed or shift point. You can have the transmission flushed but it’s best if you have a good transmission man look at the car. These transmissions are not cheap! If this vehicle was built prior to 1998, it has standard plugs that need to be replaced every 30 thou. miles. If it’s built after, they are platinums and should be replaced every 60 thou.
