Whats the best way to flush the radiator in old 79 ford van?
I had a hose bust the other day and look like some gunk where it went back on.
There is a valve at the bottom of the radiator, with it open and a hose in the top opening run water through for at least 15 or 20 min with the motor running. There is also some stuff you can by at the auto parts store to better flush the system ask the counter person about it and follow instructions and make sure to refill with fresh anti freeze. Also this would be a very good time to replace the thermostat. Its not expensive and easy to do and should be done 2 to 3 times in a vehicles life. There are two hoses that come from the radiator, follow the top one to the motor, where it connects is the thermostat housing, be sure to get a new gasket for the thermostat too.
