Seat 2A/2K “reserved” for people with wheelchair/need of oxygen on Swiss Intl?
Tried to snag 2A seat, but airline said it is reserved for those with wheelchair or need of oxygen.
Also tried to get 2K, but they said the same thing… I don’t get it.
When I looked up on Expedia, the seats were pretty much empty except the ones that I chose. Is the Swiss the only airline that does this?!
The airplane is A340, if this matters (which I doubt it)..
……..NO, the airlines don’t reserve the [first-class] seats for those with wheelchair. What they will do is reserve an exit row or something…. I never had problem when booking for seats 2A/2K on UA/CO, LH, AF, KE, OZ, CX….
Many airlines block seats for either wheel chair access, O2 access, bassinet access, or to ensure people who book last minute can still get seats together. Some blocked seats get opened up at 24 hours before departure, and others don’t get unblocked until the gate.
Most Airbus aircrafts I have been on have built it oxygen tanks above row 2, and again just in front of the wings. It sounds like Swiss is blocking those seats should someone book a flight who needs O2 service on board. If no one needs it, ask to change your seats at the gate.
